glx coverage

Show source coverage matrix for a person

Synopsis

Display a checklist of expected records for a person and which ones are present.

Generates a source coverage matrix based on the person's birth and death years, showing which census records, vital records, and other documents have been found versus which are still missing.

Record categories:

  • Census: national and state census records the person should appear in, on the schedules of the countries their places name
  • Vital: Birth, death, and marriage records
  • Other: Probate, land, military, and church records

A record counts as found only when evidence backs it: a source about the person, or an event whose assertion references a citation, source, or media object. An event on its own is a conclusion, not a record, so it is reported without counting toward the score -- an estimated birth date reckoned back from a death entry does not mean a birth record exists.

Only the person's own records count: an event in which they are the principal or subject (or bride, groom, decedent, ...), or a census on which they are a member of the household. Events in which they appear in another role -- a witness, godparent, legatee, grantor -- are someone else's record; they are listed separately under "Appears in" and do not satisfy a category.

Missing high-priority records are flagged to guide research efforts.

The person argument can be an exact entity ID or a name substring.
